The B Block witch

Two days ago we were playing volleyball in the badminton court of our hostel (block C) near midnight. One wrong push to the ball sent it flying towards a room's window waking the sleeping student inside. Next day he complained so since then the lights of the badminton court are turned off after 9 P.M. Yesterday, everyone was awake around midnight so we decided on playing volleyball again. We requested the guard to turn on the lights but he refused citing orders from warden. Due to the early morning labs, it's rare that everyone is available for playing so we decided to check other block's. The D block's lights were on but people were already playing badminton there. Hence we moved on the block B.
Block B has been empty for over two months since the first year students have left for home over the vacations. The lights were on so it was perfect. Some rooms had there lights and fans on since no one cares to turn them off while leaving. The rest were dark and empty. The court lights shining into the ground floor rooms were slightly lighting up the scattered messy contents of the room. As we started playing, I was changing positions based on which team was serving. I was moving from close to the net to the outside of the court, when I missed the ball and it went through the entry to the court area into the corridor. As I went to retrieve the ball, I heard a very high pitched voice coming from the other end of the corridor. If there were other noises coming, I would have shrugged it off as some machine sound but since it was pin drop silence, I could tell that it was coming from a person. I quickly picked up the ball and dashed back to the court. Obviously no one else would have heard anything as the ball had rolled quite far away. I asked them about the sound anyway.
"Could be a dog" was the reply and it made sense. One can find dogs at all weird places in the hostel. Once I left my room door open at night for ventilation and found one sleeping on my roommate's bed next morning.
Around 2 am, another mishit, sent the ball flying to the second floor and as the rule says, the one who hit it shall bring it back, I had to go and get the ball. I immediately declared that I was not gonna go alone. So one more guy agreed to come with me.
The hallways echoed with our steps as we reached the second floor, tha ball was nowhere in sight. We turned a corner and found the ball, deflated. Without thinking, I picked up the ball and started running downstairs. The other guy doing the same. While taking the turn towards the stairs, out of the corner of my eye, I saw something... someone move. Whoever that was had long hair. I let out a scream and reached the court. We tried explaining what happened to the others but everyone just laughed it off and so did we. The adrenaline rush blanketed my true feelings at that moment but now that I think about it. It was a stupidly frightening experience.
No more volleyball and B block visit for a while.
